Frequently Asked Questions
What is Karen AI?
Karen AI is your personal customer service assistant. It makes calls, handles customer-support interactions, and helps you navigate billing issues, appointments, disputes, and other tasks you don't want to deal with yourself.
Karen gathers the details, calls the company on your behalf, and delivers clean summaries, transcripts, and next steps.
Does Karen AI provide legal advice?
No. Karen AI can help you understand general consumer rights, gather information, and communicate with companies, but it does not provide legal advice or replace a qualified attorney.
If your situation involves legal risk or requires professional interpretation of the law, please consult a licensed attorney.
How do I get started?
Create a free account and tell Karen what call you want handled. You get 20 free minutes to start — after that you only pay for the minutes you use, as low as 5.5¢/minute. No subscription.
Do I have to be on the call?
Up to you. You pick one of three modes before Karen dials:
- "Get a human" — Karen sits through the phone tree and the hold music, then calls you back and hands you over once a real representative picks up
- "Call together" — you are on the call from the start, Karen leads the conversation, and you can jump in whenever you want
- "Call for me" — Karen makes the call without you and reports back, and adds you in if she is missing information or the rep needs to verify your identity
What kinds of tasks can Karen help with?
Examples include:
- Handling customer support calls
- Scheduling, rescheduling, or canceling appointments
- Disputing charges or fees
- Requesting refunds or account fixes
- Following up on insurance or healthcare office paperwork
- Getting status updates when companies don't respond
(You remain in control — Karen only acts with your permission.)
Is my information secure?
Yes. We use modern security practices to protect your data, and we only use your information to perform the tasks you ask Karen to handle. See our Privacy Policy for more details.
Are calls recorded, and how long do you keep them?
Calls may be recorded or transcribed — that is what makes summaries, follow-ups, and task completion work. You can turn recording off for future calls at any time in Settings, and transcripts are still generated, so your call history and summaries keep working.
Call audio is deleted automatically 90 days after the call, sooner if you delete the call or your account. Transcripts and summaries are kept until you delete the call or your account. Our Privacy Policy has the details.
Are there calls Karen will not make on her own?
Yes. "Call for me" is not offered for healthcare, legal, political, emergency, or banking calls unless the call is only for scheduling or asking a question, and it is not offered for government calls (IRS, Social Security, DMV) at all — those need you on the line. "Get a human" and "Call together" are still available for those calls.
Karen also will not dial the emergency short codes. 911, 933, 988, 112 and 999 are refused; if it is an emergency, dial it yourself.
Does Karen guarantee an outcome?
No. Karen will advocate for you and follow the process end-to-end, but final decisions rest with the companies, providers, or institutions contacted. You'll always receive a summary of any progress.
